!Year 2 Activated!

On Monday I started my second year of Games Design, woo! :D It started with a half hour introductory lecture about our upcoming Contextual Studies module and then on Thursday we played & created board games. It kinda reminded me of our first week of First Year because we played board games then too, so it was kinda weird when I remembered that it was in fact, for second year! D:

Then today we spent all day texturing some awesome models. :D We had 3 choices - a Cybabe, Bunker and an Imp. I chose the Imp, though I'll warn you in advance - it has an added 'area' to it that made me a little uncomfortable. I still wanted to paint him though, so I tried to ignore it. :'D

Not to fear though, because I've censored it to protect your innocent little eyes! :D

Here's some screenshots of what I managed to do during the day:

I'm planning on putting him into UDK within the next few days too, so hopefully my next blog post will have some 'beauty' shots of that. :D I'd also really like to do a couple of variations because he was a joy to paint!

That's all I have for this entry, thanks for reading if you did and I'm sorry for the lack of warning about the naked Imp! Have an awesome week. :)

Detachable Feet

There's a comic at the bottom of this entry that'll help you understand that title a bit more, just so you know.

I didn't post a lot on my Facebook/Twitter this week due to only really doing hand & feet studies. D: I figured I could post a couple but I didn't want to clog my pages up with just that because they aren't the most exciting of things, so there's a collection of them here. :D

I don't have scanner access right now, so here's some lovely terribly taken photos instead!

As you can see I really can't draw feet (or hands, really), so I'll be working on that some more until I get to a stage I'm happy with. I'll have to find alternative resources though because I lasted about 20 seconds on deviantART's stock & resources section under the word foot. :( I wouldn't recommend searching it, no offense to those whose photos showed up.

I'm trying to get into the habit of drawing at least a page or two of studies a night, so we'll see how that goes. So far so good. :D

The above drawing is something I made during a 10 minute break from packing for uni. Next time I think I'll just not pack anything, it'd make life so much easier. D: Though I'm back in Preston now so I don't have to worry about packing anything again until Christmas, yay! :D

Finally here's the comic I made that ties in with the title:

Finding foot poses to draw has been a bit of a chore (considering I can't handle looking at half of them) so I had this genius idea of being able to pull your foot off and pose it yourself. Then I remembered that I could just buy one of the wooden foot mannequin things which would be so much easier, oh well. At least I got a comic out of it I guess. :D

Anyway, that's all I've got for this week. I start uni again properly next week so that'll be awesome! It'll be nice to have set projects and deadlines again, I need to get myself to do that more with personal projects. :(

Thanks for reading if you did and have an awesome week!

Hands and Cupcakes

The title of this post pretty much sums up what I've been drawing lately. :'D A lot of cupcakes and a lot of hands.

The cupcakes for the most part aren't something that I've posted on my Facebook/Twitter/etc because they were drawn as part of a thank you card for someone important to me, so unfortunately because I wanted to keep it between the two of us I won't be posting them here, sorry. ):

I do have a (fairly blurry) digital painting that I did of a cupcake though so not all is lost:

I also did another study of my Sister's camera from my desk, which was an experience because it was the first time in a while that I've drawn something that was in front of me physically rather than from a reference picture on the internet. It wasn't too bad though. :D

Something I've spent the last day or two really working on is hands/arms. My hands still need a lot of work but it was fun sitting down for an hour or two to just copy down some poses. I definitely learned some things and had a lot of fun drawing these, so that was a nice experience!

There's quite a lot of them and they can be found below:

Then the last painting I started on last night is of a Cthulhu. It's not what I usually paint and I'm not entirely sure what they're supposed to look like but this is what I have so far:

Finally, on a more stylised side of things, I made this cover photo for my personal Facebook. It features Porridge Warrior slipping in a river of lucky charms. :D

I'll probably end up making a banner for my art page too, it's just a matter of figuring out what to actually put on it and that could take a while. ): I'd use this one but I don't think a distressed bowl of porridge with spoons for arms gives off much of a taste of who I am or what my art is like.

... Oh wait.
