Monkeys, TeePees and Comics!

Just before I start - the title is relevant, I swear!

So lately I've been doing quite a lot of different things work wise. Swapping between digital painting, Kismet and very stylised art. It's fun to swap between so many things, though it is kinda weird to go from painting a semi-realistic camp site to suddenly drawing myself falling out of bed in puppy pjs. A nice weird, though. :D

Here's the first 'section' to get things going:

Monkeys on Rockets!

During the last couple of weeks (for our Monday project) I've been set as one of two Lead Designers for our team. Being stupidly shy and overly conscious around people I don't talk to much and having to give direction/ask for work isn't really a very good combination but it has certainly been an experience. :D

I was lucky enough to be put in a team with very nice, kind and understanding people. Plus Dan (the other lead, woo!) is a natural when it comes to leading, so a lot of the time he handled the direction side of things. This did also mean, however, that I didn't get to draw very much other than these logos. :C Credit for the name/concept goes to Dan Bavin by the way - I just drew the pictures!

The name is 'Monkey Rocket Studio Assembly' so here are some Monkeys on badly assembled Rockets. :D

Next up, the digital paintings! These are for Thursday and are concept art for a Team Ico style game. The first one is a Camp Site with TeePees while the second is supposed to be a dock~

The things that bother me about these are the fire on the camp site and the sky in the dock, so I think I'm probably going to go back and work on them some more. There's the general idea, though!

Finally for the digital painting side; here's an Earth Golem that I started but didn't get to finish:

Last up is Comics!.. Well, Comic to be exact. ;>_> I do have more sketched out, I just haven't really had time to make them all fancy in Photoshop yet.

If you follow me on Twitter* then you might have noticed that I've recently been obsessed interested in Penny Arcade's new Reality show; Strip Search. If you're not familiar with it - basically they put 12 web comic artists in a house in search of the person that'll work for them for a year. I'm totally selling it here, right?

... Seriously, watch it! Everything I write here can't even begin to do it justice, it's such an awesome show and I'd highly recommend it. I'm even gonna help you out and link you to episode one right HERE. So now you have no excuse not to watch even a little bit. ;D You're even lucky in a sense that if you do get hooked, you have like 15 episodes to catch up on!

Which leads me onto the main point of this section. Now, baring in mind that I never draw comics and this was drawn purely off a surge of inspiration (and probably isn't really classed as a comic anyway), I present to you, this.. thing:

Yes this has actually happened to me and yes that is my actual pj outfit. Crazy!

I have a feeling this probably ended up being way longer than I should have been, so thank you for sticking around if you did! I'll have more art up next week and then after that my first year of uni will be OVER. D': Scary stuff.

Have an awesome week!
